June 2024: This month sees the opening of a new Walled Garden at The Star in Alfriston. Having bought the building next door, apparently the oldest in the village, Olga and Alex Polizzi have transformed its garden into a Mediterranean style oasis in the heart of the village.

The Walled Garden and the adjoining Courtyard are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner whenever the weather allowsThe Walled Garden. The Star serves a seasonal menu of simple unfussy dishes with a focus on clarity of flavour, utilising the abundance of exceptional Sussex produce. There is also a bar menu for those who just want a sandwich or a cream tea. The Waller Garden can also be used private events and parties.

“We are so pleased to be able to offer our guests another space for outdoor dining at The Star. This Walled Garden is surrounded and protected by pleached laurels that look over the fl int walls. We have introduced large terracotta pots of lavender, planted camellias and oak leaved hyd range a. It's a lovely spot for a summer lunch.” Says Olga Polizzi

There is also a private area of The Walled Garden next to the cottage, screened by a pretty fl int wall . This area is intended for private celebrations for up to twelve guests on a bal my su m mer's day.
