Sussex Travel Information
As you'd expect for London’s extraordinary neighbour, Sussex is easy to reach from the capital - however you chose to arrive. There are direct train services from Victoria and London Bridge stations as well as connecting cross-country services inland and along the Sussex Coast. For international visitors London Gatwick Airport is in Sussex, with easy links by rail and road to Sussex and further afield. You can cross the Channel by ferry from Dieppe to Newhaven by car or as a foot passenger too. If you are planning to visit us by train, it pays to book in advance. Return travel from London with Southern Railway can cost as little as £10.
Getting around the county is just as easy as getting to it - with a great network of bus, cycle and walking routes you can explore everything Sussex has to offer with ease!
Planning on cycling? You can bring your bike on the train, but do be aware that at peak times Southern Railway won’t allow non-folding cycles to be carried on their main routes. For all other trains, regular cycles may be carried, although bike space is limited and cannot be reserved. For more information, visit the Southern Railway website. You can always hire a bike in Sussex if you'd rather not travel with your own two wheels.
