Spring in Sussex
As winter fades away, Sussex bursts into life in spring. The rolling hills are painted with lush greenery and vibrant blossoms. The days grow longer, inviting you to explore the great outdoors and enjoy our exceptional coast and countryside. And the air is filled with energy, as excitement grows for the warmer weather ahead.
Fabulous flowers
Spring is the perfect season to visit Sussex’s famous gardens, such as Nymans and Wakehurst. Admire a kaleidoscope of blossoms and blooms and take a moment to smell the roses – literally. Or head on a leisurely stroll through the picturesque countryside to marvel at the blossoming cherry trees and emerging daffodils. Going to Arundel? Make sure you see the terrific display of tulips in the grounds of Arundel castle from April through to May.
The great outdoors
Does the changing of seasons put a spring in your step? The South Downs National Park offers numerous trails for walkers and cyclists alike, allowing you to experience the beauty of the rolling hills and coastal backdrops. Or why not spend the day in Ashdown Forest? Celebrating 100 years of Winnie the Pooh, the forest provides a magical backdrop for springtime family outings.
Springtime fairs
It’s not only the wildlife that comes roaring back in spring. This is also a season for festivals and events in Sussex. These vibrant gatherings offer everything from dog-friendly days out at Goodwoof, to family-friendly activities. Culture lovers can enjoy a season of theatre, art exhibitions and craft markets including Glyndebourne Festival and Chichester Festival Theatre.
