Glyndebourne's flagship summer programme of world class opera starts in May and features performances from one of the world's oldest Operas 'L'Orfeo' to Billy Budd by Benjamin Britten. Enjoy a picnic in the beautiful gardens during the 90 minute interval or indulge in a dining experience in one of the restaurants.

Chichester Festival Theatre
May - September
Chichester Festival Theatre season for 2026 features the world premiere stage adaptation of Ian McEwan's 'Atonement' running from 29 May to 20th June, and for the first time at Chichester from 6 July to 5th September a summer-long run of the famous musical, My Fair Lady. In September, see comedian Munya Chawawa perform in A Midsummer Night's Dream.
Chichester is a great place to explore the surrounding South Downs National Park, or Chichester National Landscape so why not take a few days to enjoy the area and escape to the country.
Arundel Festival of the Arts

One of the most celebrated arts and culture events in the South, Arundel Festival of the Arts brings together a mix of music, theatre and literature. Since its inception by the 17th Duke of Norfolk and local leaders, the Arundel Festival has welcomed renowned cultural figures such as David Hockney, Nigel Kennedy, Julian Lloyd Webber, and Katherine Jenkins.
Top open the Festival in 2026, the Gardens at Arundel Castle will be transformed into a stunning open-air theatre on Friday 21st August and Saturday 22nd August for a special performance of Shakespeare’s romantic comedy As You Like It. Set in the castle’s Earl’s Garden with the captivating backdrop of Oberon’s Palace and Arundel Cathedral, this unique production, presented by the renowned Illyria, is a memorable way to spend a summer's evening.
Rye International Jazz and Blues Festival
28 - 31 August 2026
Now in it's 14th year, the Rye International Jazz and Blues Festival is set over the August bank holiday, with headline performances taking place at St Mary's Church. Smaller free 'fringe' events also take place during the week in pubs and street parties, celebrating jazz, blues, soul and Latin music.
Explore local produce and visit the nearby Rother Wine Triangle, with a new bookable bus tour taking you around the route featuring 6 different vineyards.
Artwave Festival, Lewes
5 - 20 September 2026
Based around the historic town of Lewes, coastal towns of Seaford, Newhaven and surrounding villages, Artwave brings together local artists and makers in a series of exhibitions and events. Art lovers can discover new works, meet the makers and buy from local artists.
